Back to the Basics

Math is a basic part of life.

Not everyone is its biggest fan of it however, we deal with some aspect of math every day.
Whether it’s counting the amount of quarters a washing machine requires to operate or the swipe of a card or Apple Pay deducting the amount, Starbucks charges for their famous, and your favorite, pumpkin spice latte.

As we develop into adulthood, regardless of age there are responsibilities expected of us. Some of us find ourselves well equipped and able to manage such “normal” or “givens” while others of us find ourselves not understanding what and how exactly credit and debits work into our late twenties or thirties. By that time, our lives have been affected greatly, our habits have in one way or another shaped our lives.

Wherever you are on your timeline of growth and personal development. Make note of your finances. The sooner, the better.

Can you truly afford that fancy experience or outing with friends? Or are you getting into massive amounts of debt to avoid feeling ostracized?

Staying true to your financial circumstances may seem out of place in an environment where everyone appears to have it all together. That’s not to say, or discourage you from dreaming and diligently working towards your goals. If anything its the basis, the foundation, knowing where your realistic starting point is in life will allow you to pragmatically progress towards those goals and however lofty they may seem.

One step at a time. One issue at a time.
So maybe you’ve just recently figured out that you need to turn your life around, and you can, you will.

Start small. Reduce your expenses whereever possible. Coupon if you must ( sometimes this helps, sometimes this ends up taking more time than anicipated)

Increase your income. When and if possible. Analyze skills you already have would you enjoy the process of exchanging money for said skill? Would you rather get a part-time job? All creative entrepreneurs are different and so by definition your path to achieve your overall goal will look different, than many… than most. Don’t let that deter you from your vision.

There are moments of uncertainty if you opt for a more “create your own adventure” type of life. The entrepreneurial side of you will guide you towards develop the mindsets necessary to build the grit. Keep moving forward, keep learning.

However, if you find that the lack of structure creates an unmanageable chaos, take some time to asses where and how to CREATE and CUSTOMIZE structure for your particular craft, trade, business (es, for my fellow serial entrepreneurs out there.)

As student debt continues to be a problem for many, uncertainty continues to affect the lives of everyday folk with inflation and whatever else is heavily communicated on the news its a good thing to take a moment to recognize what tools, resources and opportunities are right in front of us. Stay on course.

Always, Be Resilient.

A new way...

A new way of thinking, a new way of living.
A new set of habits and a few new resolutions.

2025 is just around the corner, today marks a historic day here in the US with elections and election talk absolutely everywhere.

As the day progresses inevitably emotions will take over and drama will be expressed. I pray everyone stays safe and that what we really look forward to is improvement. Genuine improvement.

Here are a few things we can do as anxiety levels run high and uncertainty approaches.

  1. Control What YOU can Control
Our Emotions, Our Character, Our Communication, Our Households, & Our Finances to name a few.

  2. Find activities and events that incite UNITY within the members of your chosen group, whether that’s your blood family or not. Your community is one of your greatest influences. Look out for them. If you find that your IRL community isn’t the strongest it could be seek influences that will reinforce positive traits. We’re all constantly in a state of growth, whether we realize it or not, discerning what influences affect us with intent is critical.

  3. Build Habits together. Sometimes, where we lack others excell and vice versa, always be mindful of the helpfulness and thoughtfulness of others.

  4. Read, Read, Read. (audio books acceptable) As we read or listen to the perspective of those who took the time to carefully craft an idea concisely our worlds expand to at least consider that given perspective.

  5. Be mindful, self aware and consider furthering your spiritual journey and understanding. Our values and beliefs will set the boundaries and filters through which we see the information read, listened to, and absorbed.

  6. Consider how the election will affect your chosen way of life if it goes in one direction or the other. Jot down plans for both possibilities. As creative entrepreneurs, there are two sides to this way of life. On the one hand your creative expression is part of your essence and by the same token, making a living is how the bills get paid. How the world keeps going round and round so to speak.

  7. Continual Growth is a chain reaction, share with others what you learn if they accept the information great. If they don’t perhaps they need to hear it from someone else and that is okay. Have grace with yourself every time you fall short however, don’t get too comfortable or learn to blame someone else for your mistakes. It takes reflecting to be able to see matters through many different angles. Have patience.

  8. Always, Be Resilient. [:),<3.]

April Showers Bring May Flowers... | Your Attitude Towards Self Awareness

Dear Friend,

It has been rather cold lately. We’ve had a couple of dreary days and even a bit of snowfall. I asked myself, “ it is spring right?” And then I kindly reminded myself, that I created a “Hello Spring!” Post for the contracting business. Internal conversations have us thinking we really need our own comedy show sometimes (just me?).

The exciting thing about change is that if we make the decision to follow the direction towards optimization of productivity and we learn to give ourselves and others grace, what blooms can be really beautiful. Gaining the understanding that you’ve overcome a particular challenge before and that you will in fact face it and overcome this new version of it is truly satisfying.

The catch is understanding who you are. Who you truly are. Not the projection of others of you or the perception, but the real you. This seems to come with time, at least that has been my personal experience.

Identifying, what helps you figure these things out about yourself is crucial but not impossible, even if at times it seems so. In our culture today, it seems there is much confusion about many things and one of the tools we have been blessed with its availability of, is language. Any language. A way to communicate, comprehend, explain and pass on information. It seems it is our responsibility to make the most of what we have and if we fall short (as some of my ideas expressed in this very post might display), learn more, apply more, keep going, until you find the word that truly describes what is.

Although we might experience many failures, or dreary rainy April Showers, the flowers will come, perhaps in May.

Priorities as a Multi-Passionate Entrepreneur

Multi-passionate entrepreneurs as Marie Forleo opts to define it …have several interests, passions,& career paths they may pursue at any given time.

Marie herself is a dancer, podcaster, business coach and much more.

If you’ve just recently started your entrepreneurial journey you may be starting to notice the multiple roles you ought to play with your business just to keep it moving. There’s the financial side of things, prep work (gathering supplies, materials, resources) , marketing and advertising, customer service, and of course delivering on the product or service…just to name a few.

If you’ve been on the journey for a little you may be have confronted some “growing pains". These include, feeling like there is just not enough time in the day to complete all the things. As a result you may just now be considering hiring help or outsourcing certain tasks but being used to being the one person to take care of it all has you in turmoil about relinquishing control. Realizing just how valuable your mind and body are and that maybe just maybe yours doesn’t follow or want to adhere to “typical, common” diets, sleep habits, because ultimately you’ve chosen a path that many would rather not consider. If you do pursue it though your particularities will start to speak & radiate through, take a moment to observe & listen.

Having attempted to do it all at an early age I’ve had my share of burnouts. Having multiple passions and interests doesn’t make things easy. However, I wouldn’t give that up. One of the best ways to help sift through the plethora of opportunity involves asking some serious questions. Among them:

  • Will I regret not pursuing this path?

  • How does it contribute to my overall vision?

  • Am I willing to confront the challenges (stress/anxiety) that will inevitably come in pursuit of this goal?

  • Am I becoming the person I am aiming to become?

Regardless of the journey you opt to take there will be haters, contrarians, doubters, bullies. Sometimes these beings are people with close access. Coming to the the realization that these people are simply at a different place in their journey helps to view their comments perhaps even hatred through a different lens. This perspective will help give you freedom from those negative comments to then be able to follow through on your goals without leaving you with newly formed hatred or resentment towards them. Your time is far too precious to be lost in pettiness or hatred. Use the fuel generated by such things instead to CREATE.
