Learning to forgive yourself…

As a recovering perfectionist it’s been quite the journey to learning not to be hard on myself enough that I aim to achieve great things and yet gentle enough to know and willingly admit when I’ve made a mistake.

Entrepreneurship can be both eye opening/revealing and have a mask cloaking over issues of insecurities, emotions, habits and tendencies if allowed.

Choosing entrepreneurship is just that, a choice, a decision. But like anything it requires commitment to every aspect of it of your path of choice even if not more so to the unknown aspects the ones that show up with time that may cloud your judgement. Sometimes these make you irritable, argumentative, inattentive… add a bit of allergies, health concerns, lack of sleep, unhealthy habits or addictions and just know you’ll be in for a whirlwind.

My perspective is based on my experience as a contractor, the daughter of a contractor, the daughter of a rental property owner, a girl learning the basics of running a home (mostly) from YouTube aiming to become a decent chef, sorting through emotional chaos because as an eldest daughter I used to believe I should be able to do it alone. While also learning that there are emotional boundaries that need to be set in order to allow for time to create and work on the business(es) while simultaneously building a home or the HQ to then also help nurture your family and be the retreat from the chaos. Every aspect of your life has a system whether you realize it or not … whether you want to admit it or not. Every habit, routine will either HELP or contribute to minimize or intensify the complexity.

Some refer to it as “giving yourself grace” others say “learn to forgive yourself” which you opt doesn’t necessarily give you permission to give up but rather to learn how to quickly get back up again, and try again only this time wiser, with a refined strategy perhaps among stronger mentors (even if you mostly find them on audible or YouTube) because the point is to become a better version of yourself one that provides something of value to your community.

This week I’m listening to Mrs. Lisa Bilyeu’s Radical Confidence… who unbeknownst to her has lately played a major role in how I see myself and my roles in the different businesses I’m a part of as well.

When you’re on a path not travelled by most it’s important to be on the lookout for signs, stories and experiences of those with similar paths though they won’t give you the EXACT blueprint to how you should live your life their insights will inevitably shed light on some of the foggiest of situations.

Well off to listen 🎧 some more and then have to squeeze in some time to study.
